I recently just finished designing a third floor space (this adorable kids loft) for a client and it is amazing the feeling that comes over you when you finish a smooth project!!
The project did not start off with ” this is going to be awesome”  however.  It was a referral from my farmhouse client and it was a third floor space.  Very challenging architecturally for furniture placement and very challenging as to what exactly I could fit up the narrow stairs that lead to the attic space.  I decided to start with our delivery company so that they could tell me what my boundaries were in regards to the install.  He decided that due to the stairwell, the height of the piece could be no more that 27″ high.  Wow, not many upholstered pieces in a traditional frame have those dimensions.
I set out on my hunt for a sectional that was within those dimensions.  I did find many that could work as long as we took off the legs to accommodate. I picked a sectional because I needed as much seating as possible for the kids and the sectional could come in pieces to work with my size restrictions.   Today the reclaimed wood options are endless so we opted for a reclaimed wood cocktail table and a reclaimed wood media console.  I also found a great grey washed wood drop leaf table to place behind the sectional so you weren’t walking up into the back of the sectional and the kids could open it up to play games, cards, etc.
So, the day on install… Raining, a minor mis-communication between the 2 delivery companies and the fear that my sectional was not going to make it up those stairs!!  Literally we were hiding in their son’s bedroom as they took off the legs, praying this sofa would make it up
Thank God we have professionals on the job people!  Or this would have never ended as well as it did! Check it out!

Sofa will fit!

It did, we accessorized, and the space was a huge hit with mom and the kids!!
Check out some snapshots of the new space!
So, all is well that ends well!!  It really did turn out amazing and the client was thrilled.. Can’t ask for anything better!!

After graduating from the University of Missouri, K.C., I spent my days raising our three boys. However, my interest in fashion and interior design kept me reading and taking classes in the design field. After working in a high-end retail fashion store in St. Louis, I realized that putting together assorted fabrics, textures and styles was a passion. After decorating my own home, and those of family, friends, neighbors and co-workers, I realized that my passion and "eye" for fashion work equally well in interior design. I have built some of my strongest relationships through the opportunity of creating spaces for my clients over the years. I will learn your lifestyle and taste, and working with you, I will create a design that exceeds your expectations.
